Day Services Program

Our Day Services program serves adults with the most significant disabilities to promote personal growth and enhance basic living skills. Depending on the skill level and needs of the adult, the required client-to-staff ratio varies from one-to-one, two or three-to-one, and up to six-to-one. Our Day Services program is one of the few in the region for individuals living with the most severe disabilities. A majority of these adults are non-verbal and require assistance with mobility and personal cares.

This program is designed to maintain a positive, creative, and caring environment that is person-centered and focuses on enhancing the strengths of each individual. Activities include:

  • a daily swim/hydro-therapy program in Endeavors’ heated pool
  • physical activity through walking and movement in combination with basic musical instruments (tambourines, bells, etc.)
  • group music and singing activities
  • art and crafts therapy

Increasing socialization skills through participation in the community is also integral to this program. Several times per week staff transport the adults to two public libraries in area communities. Library staff coordinate with our Day Services Supervisor to read and perform stories and involve the adults in acting through basic skits. Special trips are also scheduled, such as:

  • visiting the Como Zoo in Minneapolis
  • attending live theatre performances at the St. Croix Festival Theatre
  • visiting the Science Museum of Minnesota

The Day Services program routinely incorporates activities of daily living in order to promote personal growth and independence. These activities include:

  • transportation to area grocery stores in the community
  • preparing and cooking meals in the kitchen of Endeavors simulated apartment
  • dish clean-up
  • using the washer and dryer for their towels and bathing suits
  • development and maintenance of personal hygiene skills
