Community Integration
Day services participants get out into the community through bi-weekly library visits, trips to the grocery store and other outings.
Our Day Services program serves adults with the most significant disabilities to promote personal growth and enhance basic living skills. Depending on the skill level and needs of the adult, the required client-to-staff ratio varies from one-to-one, two or three-to-one, and up to six-to-one. Our Day Services program is one of the few in the region for individuals living with the most severe disabilities. A majority of these adults are non-verbal and require assistance with mobility and personal cares.
This program is designed to maintain a positive, creative, and caring environment that is person-centered and focuses on enhancing the strengths of each individual. Activities include:
Increasing socialization skills through participation in the community is also integral to this program. Several times per week staff transport the adults to two public libraries in area communities. Library staff coordinate with our Day Services Supervisor to read and perform stories and involve the adults in acting through basic skits. Special trips are also scheduled, such as:

The clients participate in physical activity through walking and movement in combination with basic musical instruments.
Music is therapeutic and our clients regularly get immersed in music through singing, playing simple instruments and movement.
We offer swimming / hydrotherapy in our heated pool.
We take the clients on regular day trips to the theatre, museums and the zoo.
We have the clients work with a variety of mediums for sensory stimulation.
